Unfold – Porter Robinson / Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs

With Porter (aka Silly Porter), there are not too many cookie-cutter mass melodies, but rather a seemingly particleized, disorienting emotional outpouring. There is a lot of perfect and even magical mastery of electro, a lot of descending blows, but also climaxes and refreshing melodies that somehow linger. In this way, he was able to create a highly charged, soul-stirring god of a track such as Shelter, dullscythe and many more. Adding the collaboration of the highly skilled DJ Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (formerly known as Orlando Tobias Edward Higginbottom) to the mix takes the production to the next level.

Opening with a small section of compounded and obscure double-tracking, slightly out of tune as if put out by an old machine, it's mysterious and intriguing. As the vocals are accessed, they become harmonized at once. The extremely smooth vocals continue to stretch and sing on, with the chorus suddenly accessing as the lyrics change, and without being jarring. As the climax arrives, the emotional output of the entire song seems to reach an explosive point, and suddenly, like fireworks blooming, it is presented to the listener's ears. The colorful tones, saturated processing and touching melody together create an attractive piece of music. The unison vocals in the middle are extremely powerful, undulating and beautiful. The transition after the end of the chorus doesn't drag at all, and the extremely distorted female vocals manage to create a moving and uplifting mood. Randomly again to the magnificent chorus, which ends abruptly. Perfect as always, Silly Quite creates his own world in his own special way, with a unique and highly charged already that makes you unconsciously ask yourself if what you've just heard is just a mirage?
